2021 Winter Solstice Beanie Competition
Calling all knitters, crocheters and needle crafters (or wannabes!). The Manning River Turtle Group is holding their inaugural Winter Solstice Beanie Competition.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experience artisan. It doesn’t matter what age you are. As long as you’ve made it yourself and it’s g-rated, it’s able to be entered.
There are cash prizes for five categories:
  • Children aged 12 and under. (If you don’t know how to knit or crochet, maybe a relative can teach you!)
  • Children aged 13-18 years.
  • Most creative beanie.
  • Beanie most resembling a Manning River Turtle. (Here’s a tip – to find out what the Manning River helmeted turtle looks like there are plenty of pictures and information on this site for you to base your beanie on.)
  • ‘Packers’ Prize’ – all beanies from all categories will have a chance of being awarded this prize.
Entry is free and you can enter as many times as you want. Entries close on July 31, 2021 and will need to be dropped off before then at the Manning Regional Art Gallery in Macquarie Street, Taree. Entry forms will be available at the Art Gallery.
Winners will be announced on this page, on the Manning River Turtle Group page, and on the manningriverturtle.org website as well as the Manning River Times.
The beanies will be exhibited at the Art Gallery for the week following judging.
